At the Planning and Finance Meeting held 6 December a report was presented to council proposing a name change to the Benalla Senior Citizens and Community Centre. This request is the result of an approach from the facilities primary tenants, U3A and Benalla Senior Citizens Club. Council is supportive of the request as it is inclusive of all user groups within the building and allows the facility to remain easily identifiable to the broader community.
Benalla Seniors and Community Centre is Councils preferred option for a name change.
Council is currently seeking community feedback on the proposed name change and is not seeking alternate suggestions.
This is the first step in the renaming process. If the community is supportive of the change, Council will then seek approval though the legislated name changing process. Full details of this process can be found within the Council Report included included in the Document Library on this page.
