Benalla Rural City Council is proposing to lease a section of car parking in Barkly St, Benalla to Tesla for the purpose of an Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station. The site will be located next to the Aldi supermarket just off Bridge St East. The proposed lease term would be five years with two five-year options to extend.

The proposed carpark would include 8 dedicated spaces for electric vehicle charging.

The proposed chargers being installed would be Tesla V4 chargers rated to 300kw.

Other infrastructure on site will include a main switchboard and 2 charging cabinets.

The project would be funded, constructed, and run by Tesla. Council would also receive a lease fee from Tesla annually.

The installation would provide a much-needed boost to the EV charging infrastructure in the Benalla Rural City area. The chargers will provide a significant increase in EV charging options for local EV owners as well as provide more options for visitors.
