Council is currently developing a weed and pest Control Plan for 2023-2026 as part of the Roadside Weeds and Pests Program (RWPP).
The RWPP Control Plan will outline Council's past efforts and future plans for weed and pest management. The plan will be updated yearly with any key changes based on changes in infestations and feedback from the community.
The RWPP is a Department of Government Services Program that provides funding to Council to assist in managing invasive plants and pest animals from spreading throughout Victoria, threatening agricultural land, parks, forests, and rural land asset values.
The RWPP has been ongoing for several years and has allowed Council to treat and map noxious weeds and pest animal infestations across the municipality. As part of the 2023-24 program Council is developing a Control Plan (2023-26) which will include a management plan for this year as well as outlining the key target areas and key species for the next three years.
As the first step in the development of the RWPP Control Plan, Council is seeking input from the community.
Council’s Environment Team are after input on the following areas:
- priority weeds, roadsides, or areas for treatment
- any community-led weed and pest control activities
- any areas where treatment should not occur.
